First of all, thankyou very much for taking the time to read this.
I live in France, near Paris, and today I brought this religious figuerine, it was completely black when i got it home. I put it in a pot of boiling water with foil and bicarb soda and I managed to clean it up somewhat. Before I started cleaning I thought it could be silver or silver plate, thats why i cleaned it the way I did. However, now it is a very rose colour (copper? or silver mixed with cooper?) And there are possibly hallmarks which are eroded.
Maybe someone here would hazard a guess as to what type of metal it is (so i can clean it properly) and maybe I could have your insites on if those marks are hallmarks, and if so what do they mean?
