Identification help required -Tankard

Identification help please. Any information is much appreciated. Is it silver or pewter?!

It is neither silver nor pewter. The clue is in the lettering in the shield: EPNS is electroplated nickel silver. So your mug is made of nickel silver (a base metal alloy similar to pewter and, despite its name, with no silver in it) with a very thin layer of pure silver on the surface. The manufacturer was Robert Pringle & Sons of London - the crossed axes symbol was their trademark.
