IDENTIFICATION PROBLEMS OF HALLMARKS ON SUGAR TONGS ........

Hi … I have a number of pairs of Sugar Tongs with Hallmarks that I am having trouble identifying - I would really appreciate some help !

M & S - Beaver symbol - S - EP

B - Symbol similar to ANCHOR BUT STYRAIGHT ARMS, ONE WITH CROSS STYLE SYMBOL ON IT - E & H L

W N or W II - & S B D - MP over B (IN A SHIELD)

B D & S - KEY or TRUMPET SHAPE WITH FLAG HANGING UNDER (IN A SHIELD)

sORRY I CANNOT SEEM TO GET PICS ON AT THE MO - I WILL TRY AGAIN THO !!

Regards,

Clare.

Your tongs are all electroplated. Without pictures I can have a good guess at three of the four:

M&S is probably Maxfield & Sons
The next one I don’t recognise
WN&S BD is probably WH&S BP for William Hutton & Sons, Britannia Plate
BD&S is JD&S for James Dixon & Sons (the trumpet is their trademark)

Keep trying with the pictures - if only to prove me wrong!

Thankyou for your reply …very helpful & saved me hours of searching !!

I shall have another go with the photos !!!

Regards,

Clare
