Completely new here….was given some old spoons and utensils from my in laws and wanted to know if anyone can identify the value if any on this spoon. It weighs 9 grams. Thank you!
I think the process of elimination steers us to the likely answer. The marks aren’t those of U.K. sterling, nor of North American sterling (Canada, U.S., Mexico), nor of sterling from any European country.
That leaves us with the conclusion that the spoon isn’t silver, but is, at best, electroplated. But it might not even be silver electroplate. It might be just some lesser alloy, without even a silver surface.
I can’t identify the “three towers” mark, but it probably doesn’t matter. The end result of this little exercise is the conclusion that the spoon is worth virtually nothing. At that light weight, even if if were sterling, it would be worth only a few dollars, I’m afraid.
I appreciate all the information you have provided on this spoon and will value it as nothing. Great knowledge you have!
Clearly, you need to find better in-laws, ones who will give you some really good stuff. ![]()
