Is Chester Silver more collecable/valuable?

Hi there

I am relatively new at collecting silver and was wondering if Chester silver is any more valuable or collectable than other silver? Thanks in advance.

Yes and no. Early Chester silver (up to the mid-19th century) is rare and can command a small premium, but towards the end of the 19th century many Birmingham manufacturers started sending their silver to Chester for assay because they found they got a faster service than having it done locally. So Chester-assayed silver from that period is no more nor less valuable than that from other assay offices.
