I assumed this was a bit of amusing fantasy heraldry, but 1897 was Victoria’s jubilee. Any idea if Mappin & Webb did a jubilee mark? Or was this for employees or something? Can’t seem to find any reference to it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

At least the hallmark, Sheffield 1896-1897, is correct. Not sure about the decoration, but I find the notion of Victoria on horseback, at age 78, somewhat risible.

I can’t find a matching image. But one interesting note is that Mappin & Webb were a major exhibitor at the Stockholm Exhibition of 1897, so there might be a connection there.
ETA: In fact, I’m liking that link more and more. The Diamond Jubilee decorations tended to depict the mature Queen:

That’s a promising idea. And it was King Oscars silver jubilee. Also apparently they built a medieval replica of Stockholm, so maybe my equestrian lady is a nod to that?
