japanese silver marks on spoon

Hi,

I have a spoon with what looks like japanese marks. I could not find any info about the marks, so maybe someone here can help me to identify it.

Thanks :astonished:

No, they’re not Japanese marks. They read JD&S in an Old English script. JD&S are almost certainly James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield. The clincher would be if the rubbed mark to the right of the letters is a bugle (see here for an example of the complete mark). Your spoon is silver plate rather than solid silver.

Thanks
