Hi could anyone help identify the hallmarks on my large spoon please
So far, all I can say with assurance is that it’s not a U.K. silver hallmark. Silverplate, but I don’t know whose.
William Davidson & Frederick Upton. London, 1863 …1866 (registered Sep 1863).
However, in the case of 1980Vintage we are dealing with completely different symbols: a cross, an anchor and a heart.

Indeed, the other examples all have proper London sterling hallmarks, and the posted piece certainly doesn’t. I suppose the makers could have used the same mark for their silverplate items, though that’s a bit unusual.
To add to the mystery, so far I haven’t found any references to WD&FU making anything other than sterling. But apparently, that’s what we’re looking at.
Just to spins everyone’s head a little more the spoon has tested sterling silver
Lucky one! —___—
Tested how? Silverplate has a thin layer of silver on it, so a surface test will often produce a positive result for “silver.”
