It’s Italian. The mark with the star will tell you the maker if you can manage to decipher all of the characters. The format is [star] [number identifying the maker] [2 letters identifying the province]. There is a large selection of makers identified in this topic on the 925-1000 site which you can search.

Thanks for this,i thought it was perhaps made iin Masstrict, Rather odd that after all the care and skill used to make it the star and makers mark was double hit,perhaps by an apprentice. Thanks again Dave
