I believe EM over JM are the Mappin brothers. I see the lion symbol and assume Sterling but not sure and If anyone can tell me what the piece is and when it was made. Thank you for any information

Mappin Brothers, sterling silver, London, 1870. All that info can be found here Silver Makers Marks. Oh, and I’d say it’s a tankard for ale, and it looks like it has an earlier english crown in the lid. The coin I mean.
