I’m new to this research and so far can only assume that this maker is Horace Woodward & Co?
However, my reading as SS. H LD. with W above and & below doesn’t appear - as far as I can see.
Afraid I also found the photography difficult!
Any help would be appreciated.

Fortunately an easily recognisable mark (when you know what you’re looking for!). It’s William Hutton & Sons Ltd. Knowing that it’s easy to pick out WH&SsLd. It was a large Sheffield company with a London branch in Holborn.
