Mark on goblet; Spanish?

i am having trouble identifying this mark on a goblet. It is stamped: “S.M.B. & 916”. i am confident it is silver but i cannot seem to identify the maker or place of origin.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

IF it is silver, then I believe 88 zolotnik Russian silver has the equivalent fineness of 916.
The rest is silence as they say …

But maybe I’m way off the mark

Thank-you. Yes, i wondered if it might be Finnish or Russian but usually they are accompanied by other markings. i have also seen Spanish silver in .916 but have not been able to find any references to SMB.
