Hi!
Can anyone please identify this E and Crown Mark? There is no city mark or date mark?!
This is a Sheffield hallmark. For smaller items between 1780 and 1853 the Sheffield Assay Office used the crown and date letter combined in various styles instead of separate crown and date letters. This combination is for the assay year 1848/49 and AH is Aaron Hadfield & Sons.
