No maker's mark on 1735 salver?

Why would a maker’s mark be absent from such an item? I presume it is genuine silver from this period.

It would have been applied by the maker before assay and may not have been as deep as the hallmark. Getting on for 300 years later it could easily have been polished away. The engraved armorial is also showing signs of age.

The hallmark looks perfectly correct to me.

Thank you Phil, that does make sense!
