I have a friend who enjoys collecting antique silverware from auctions and I am helping her to locate new auction houses who hold regular silverware auctions. Does anyone know of any newsletters or other media that you can register with, in order to receive notifications of forthcoming sales? Any information would be greatly received.
Hi Kirsty and thanks for joining us. Sotheby’s and Christie’s both have websites you can join for free and they will emial you notices of upcoming auctions in Europe and the US, including their silver auctions and have free on line catalogs as well. If in the US, Antique Week newspaper has a very comprehensive listing each week of upcoming auctions, many of which include silver. I get the paper version but they have an online edition, www.antiqueweek.com
I’m sure there are many more sources. Ideas folks?
