Usually I’m pretty good with reading hallmarks but this old well-used and worn jug has me a bit stumped. The only “AGD” mark I could find (which is the only one that’s really legible to me) seems to be from Sweden as A.G Dufva, but the central mark doesn’t look like any of the Swedish marks I could see and the lettering style of the AGD is different.
I’m not sure if it’s visible in the picture, but the central mark has horizontal lines running across in the background. There’s also a very small “55 5” stamped inside the foot but I imagine it’s just a pattern number or something similar. It really doesn’t help that they seem to have marked it and then turned the foot up afterwards, so the marks on the outside are partially obscured by it. I’m pretty sure it’s solid silver based on how it polished up but could be wrong.
Hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction
