One certified appraiser said…

… that these are pseudo hallmarks on silver plated and not worth an appraisal. Anyone know about these marks? And why would someone place them there?


This mark crops up regularly and was for a long while unidentified or wrongly attributed to a Spanish company. Meneses Orfebres. It is now thought to be most likely the mark of Eton Silver Inc. of Glendale, NY. And your appraiser was right - it is electroplate and not silver.

Thank you, Phil. I thought it might be from the UK. As this was a gift from my uncle, who was gifted from his father, my grandpa. Who has British lineage around the 1820’s then migration to the east coast of the USA.
