Please help hallmark my silver smelling salts bottle

I have this lovely item and no idea where or when it’s from please help

Many thanks

Your bottle has a Birmingham sterling silver hallmark with the date letter “m” for the assay year 1886/87. It also has a partially worn maker’s mark which is recognisable as D&F for the Birmingham company Deakin & Francis.

My hero massive thanks for this it’s greatly appreciated :+1::+1:

Does that also indicate as solid silver? Thanks again Andy

Sterling is 925/1000 purity. The hallmark guarantees this. “Solid silver” encompasses many purity levels from as little as 500/1000.
