Please help me identify this sterling object

Hello, Does anyone know what this is? The handle has a gradual intentional bend, but the round end is completely flat.

I found it with a large group of antique sterling flatware. It had gold wash, it is marked sterling on the back but nothing else, and has violet colored glass in the handle. Any ideas?

The stone looks to be Amethyst !!

I would use is as a cruet spoon.

It you show the marks. someone can probably tell you who made it and for exactly what.

It is gilded so it can be used and possibly left in condiments which would stain silver like mustard. The earlier cruet makers used wood with silver handles to prevent the same problem.

It is almost certainly part of a set.

While I might use it as a condiment spoon, and indeed the dark stain on it seems to indicate I wasn’t the first to come up with that idea, I think it is in fact a caviar spoon.

Here’s a container and spoon which it could sub for:

I’m sorry for the poor photography! It is not a stain, but a shadow :disappointed: I wish the stone was amethyst but unfortunately just a pretty bit of glass. Thanks to you all for your input. If it is a part of a set, I wish I had the other piece. I’m sure it was lovely!

Unfortunately it does not have a maker’s mark or hallmark. It is marked only STERLING.

Probably US. then.
