New here and desperate for help,can anyone tell me what this is,3 inches high,fretwork top hinges back to reveal what looks like some type of metal ‘wick’,I’ve ‘ggogled’ just about everything I can find and am just ready to give up,thanks for looking,

Thanks - I don’t recognize the marks. Probably UK silverplate, if silver at all, perhaps some of our readers can help.

My first impression was the item is a child’s robot…seriously, it may be a burner for a chafing dish…very art deco.

Keith - a “chafing dish” is a bowl on a stand with a small burner (or even a candle) under it to keep cocktail finger food warm - such as little meat balls you spear with a toothpick.
