Robert Pringle and Sons - But what is it?

Hi,

This was found in the loft a few days ago, and I can’t figure out what it is.
It has
‘From the two B’s
S.S Mariana’
inscribed on the front, and it has the Robert Pringle and Sons hallmark on the bottom.
Any information on what it does, where it’s come from etc would be really appreciated!

I Googled SS Mariana and found there was a merchant ship of that name which was torpedoed by a U-boat in 1942 off Turks Island and sank in 5 mins.

It seems a bit upmarket for a merchant ship to have on board?

Yes, I thought it’d be something like that, and it does seem an odd thing to be on a merchant ship :confused:

Do you think there’d be much value to it?
