Hi all, wondering your thoughts on my 19th c. acorn figural silver plate hinged lidded bowl by Rogers, Smith & Co., Meriden, CT. Butter dish? Sugar bowl? I thought it might be an egg warmer but…there’s no place underneath for the warmer. It measures 7.5" H (to the finial). The bowl is 4.25" W. Thanks for having a look!
Something from the same maker, with a similar design. The seller in this case labels it a jelly/preserve/honey dish. I’d quarrel with “honey,” but jelly or preserves would seem reasonable.
