Rubbed Marks On Letter Opener

Hi,

I have a letter opener with partly rubbed marks, can anyone help to know its origin? Is it Scottish because of the Thistle shape? Also is it silver or not? Thanks in advance

Persian/egyptian, lotus hallmark.

Wow thank you, so it’s not a bell in the middle (hence why I photographed it upside down). This is really interesting,
I would never have guessed it was Egyptian.

I’ve found out that the lotus flower means it dates between 1992 - 1993, but it doesn’t say which one is the lotus flower
