Russian Silver 1884 Cigarette Case

Greetings - I need help with verifying all my research on this item and, most importantly, identifying the maker’s mark.

I have a couple of puzzles over a Russian silver cigar cigarette case. I believe the triple assay mark indicates Aleksandrovich Petrov as the assayer, 1884 the year, 84 indicating Russian silver, and St. George slaying the Dragon city mark as Moscow.

First puzzle - the maker’s mark. Anyone have a clue who’s this is?

Second puzzle - There is another marking on the opposite side to the assay marks. It also indicates 875 silver and Moscow city mark. Although I’ve no idea what the mark is to the left of that one.

Does anyone know what the top graphic is of?

Thanks for your ideas and input. And, if you happen to have a value amount, that would also be helpful. Cheers.

Probable maker - IVAN SEMENOVICH GUBKIN or Ivan Khlebnikov.

Snuff-box, silver, 84 standard, 91.65 g, engraving, niello enamel, 8.6 x 5.6 x 2.6 cm, Ivan Gubkin factory, 1886, Moscow, Russia

BTW, Amy, do you have any Polish roots?

Nope. I’m of German decent, at least back to the 1700’s when my families immigrated here. My husband, however, is part Polish.

Thank you for the info as well. I thought it was a JN, but could find nothing in the 925-1000.com site. I just did a general Google and found more examples of this work, one of which was a cigarette case like this one with a different Niello carving.

Cheers!
