Hello, please can someone help me identify the hallmarks on the handle of a little salt spoon I found in a charity shop. I’ve spent hours but am a totaL novice!! I can’t find an assay office, I don’t know if the date is 1885 or if that’s part of the maker stamp. I love it but some history would be marvellous

Your spoon is electroplated so the mark is not a hallmark and you won’t find an assay office or a date. The 3 boxes on the right of the mark are D&H for Deykin & Harrison of Birmingham. The other 2 boxes have D&H’s trademarks of a fleur-de-lis and a man in a gondola.

That’s really helpful and puts me out of my misery of not being able to find an assay office
or date. Thank you. I knew it looked like a boat, but I had AI telling me it was a squashed crown !! I love a bit of history so even if not silver I’m happy with my 50p spoon. @silvermakersmarks
