This is an antique Scottish ladle from S L & Co. I believe this might be a company called Scott & Livingstone? In Aberdeen? I have searched on the site, but havent been able to find anything - yet. Thanks

S.L. & Co. stamped with foreshortened “Aberdeen” and a lamp does indeed refer to Scott & Livingstone, an early-to-mid 20th-century Scottish firm or retailer known for silver-plated cutlery and small serving pieces rather than solid provincial silver.
The mark is commonly found on vintage silver-plated items like small sauce ladles, teaspoons, and serving spoons.
It operated as a local retailer or distributor supposedly in Aberdeen between 1920 to 1955 and pieces bearing their stamp are an electroplated nickel silver rather than traditional Scottish provincial solid silver.
However a company with an identical name was making solid sterling in Dundee earlier, leading one to presume it may have started out as a silversmith and transitioned into electroplate.
Thanks, that’s really helpful. It would explain its history as it came from my wife’s grandparents who originally came from the Stonehaven and Braemar parts of Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire.
