Silver Candy dish?

No idea where its from,I am in the USA. Any help identifying the hallmarks would be great or even knowing what its original purpose was would be appreciated.
TIA,Stuart.

This is Scottish, but it is electroplate rather than silver. The Gothic letters either side of the shield are EP NS - electroplated nickel silver. And the shield has D&S over G for Davis & Sons, Glasgow. It probably dates from very late 19th or early 20th century.

As to its original purpose I am not sure, but candy dish, or bon-bon dish, looks like a very suitable use for it.

Thank you very much! Now I remember where it came from. My parents immigrated to the US from Scotland,so I’m sure they brought it with them or maybe it was sent as a present for some occasion.:man_shrugging:
Thanks again!
