Silver Cups

British Silver What is it?

Hi,

My wife has had these cups for awhile, and we were wondering if any info could be made of them.
We have a total of 12.
They do not have any marking/stamps on them
We did take one of the cups, and filed about 1mm into the bottom edeg of the cup. It appears to be solid silver (at least not copper)

The cups are 4 inches tall, and 1 3/4inch wide

Also, how can we tell the grade of silver, sterling or not? Are there reputable places that we could send one into for testing?

If they are not marked they are unlikely to be silver. You don’t say where you are in the world, but I would suggest that your first port of call should be a local independent jeweller or antique dealer who may well be able to give you advice about how to proceed.
