Can people tell me the history , age and origin of this item. I’m guessing late 1800’s
Your electroplated jug was made by the Birmingham company, Browett, Ashberry & Co. This company was in business c1885-1892 when it became Alfred Browett & Co.

Thanks. do you think it’s meant to be the milk jug in the tea set or just an independent jug?

It was probably not intended as a milk jug - they don’t normally have lids. So it may not have been part of a set.
