Silver plated trinket box from Homan Manufacturing Company

Hi!
I was recently given a silver plated trinket box (or jewellery box maybe?) and I was interested to find out more about it. The marks on the bottom of the box are “WARRANTED QUADRUPLE PLATE HOMAN MFG. COMPANY MADE IN U.S.A.” with an anchor and rope, and “SPECIAL METAL” with a crucible and hammer marked with “H” On the underside of the lid it is marked “4090”

The box is approx. 9cm (3.5inches) in diameter. Inside is lined with fabric. The lid is decorated with flowers and ribbons.

I have done some research and have found some info about the company but I’m interested to know about the age of this particular piece, as well as if it was originally intended to be used for anything specific.

Thank you for your help!
