Silver scissor wick trimmer "M"? fleur de lys x2?

Hi, I’ve tried to identify the marks, Ive been through silvercollection.it without much success. I’ve previously identified many marks via that site… but this is the 1st time I’ve been stumped…it’s also the 1st time i’ve come across a candle snuffer! So… googleing has led me to this forum… and here we go… 1st pic is of candle snuffer for context. The hallmarks are on the outside of the ‘snuffer’ part. I can’t see any other marks anywhere.

Thankyou

I don’t recognise the marks at all but I can tell you that it is not a candle snuffer; it’s a wick trimmer. The scissor part is used to shorten the candle wick and the hot residue falls into the box. In my opinion it is unlikely to be silver as there are no recognisable (to me anyway) silver marks.

Could you take more photos of the item? Clean it gently as other signatures or symbols may appear.

Hi, I’ve had a bit more of a clean everywhere ..and got quite excited when I thought I saw a small star of david, a bush and a windmill type image…. but it was the mind playing tricks, and willing symbols into existence…as I further cleaned - just wear and tear very shallow indentations.

I enclose a better pic of the marks

The symbols are extremely legible, but I would appreciate a few photos of the entire item.

There are some close similarities with one of the known marks of I & L Waterhouse.

yeah, i came across that, but the ‘cartouche’ (if that’s the name for it) of the fleur didn’t match, and the style of the fleur is different. It’s the fleur style that is throwing me, i keep looking at it, and wondering which way is ‘up’… not helped by the one one the right being turned 90 degrees!

Googling that name…there’s a site I’ve not come across before: https://www.925-1000.com/silverplate_W.html - be aware it’s packed with Ads/cookies, and that shows I & I Waterhouse…with a pic of the fleur that is closer to mine.

Very similar pattern.

yes pretty close, especially on the ‘box’. I think I’d come across the same one you’ve found yesterday, but the design of the ornamentation either side of the ‘box’ was like your found one. Appreciate your time, btw
