Some quick answers, however. “Silver soldered” means it’s plated, not sterling. It’s usually used on hotel ware, to indicate that it’s tougher than ordinary plated pieces, to stand up to hard use. The “48 oz” is certainly the capacity of the object, i.e., one-and-a-half quarts.
