Can anyone help me with this mark?
This IC mark appears to match a mark assigned as “probably John Cruttall” in David Mitchell’s book “Silversmiths in Elizabethan and Stuart London”. Cruttall was working between 1655 (freedom date) and 1695 (death date). However, as you don’t show any evidence of a hallmark, I have to assume that there isn’t one unless it is hidden under the potentially much later Victorian over-decoration. Without such a hallmark a definite attribution to date and maker is not possible. Hallmarks would be positioned below the rim and inside the lid.
