Silver Vase Valuation

Please help me finding the right value of this Silverware . Following are the details -

  1. Makers Mark CW - Catchpole & Williams London
  2. Assay Office - London
  3. Standard mark - Walking Lion (92.5% pure silver)
  4. Assay Letter - ‘f’ - 1903
  5. Weight - 11 kg

Please advise what should be it’s good buying price and notwithstanding with silver price volatility, does this have a collectible value and would it appreciate in future ?

Hi, I think it’s 1901, not 1903. Regardless, I very much doubt there is value beyond the silver value. It must be pretty big if it weighs 11kg. It looks like a funerary urn. To get a rough estimate of what you could sell it for take the the price of silver per kg x 11 x .925 x 60-70% which is approximately 19 - 22k USD which is a lot of lettuce. Whether the value of silver will go up or down is anyone’s guess but I think the price of silver would have to drop an awful lot for any collector value to exceed the bullion value. Hope that helps and please anyone correct me if I’m wrong.

Also check the bottom to see if it’s weighted. And are there hallmarks anywhere else besides the rim of the lid?
