Help reading hallmarks please
The vesta appears to be marked by Chester assay office in (f) 1906 and possibly was made by Joseph & Richard Griffin but this is more of a guess than an opinion as the photography is too unfocused to allow for a clear view of the maker’s name
You are either using a very low pixel camera or didn’t focus it tightly enough.
You have asked us to help you read the hallmarks but frankly you have the advantage of the original and presumably access to a magnifying glass!
Brothers Joseph & Richard Griffin founded their firm in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter in 1895 but a large percentage of their work was assayed in Chester. They made a wide range of silverware for personal, domestic and table use before they ceased trading in 1926

Okay found another Vesta by the same maker with the same mark – different date-- and am getting more confident my guess is accurate.
If you are relying on old photo technology can you decipher the letters. “J&RG” before the hallmarks?
CRWW
In my opinion the mark is without any doubt that of Joseph & Richard Griffin.

Thanks guys I’m pretty new to this and learning as I go I appreciate your help.
Frases like old technology make me confident in in the right place
Hi Matt:
Both my optometrist and I are grateful for your kind comments, I because I am hopeful my phraseology (fraseology?) will encourage you to return, perhaps with a slightly less blurry pictures and my optometrist because, based on your comments and Phil’s utter certainty about the nomenclature I had difficulty reading, I paid him a visit and ordered new glasses!

It’s lovely that you’ve got a Chester assayed Vesta Case as the Assay Office closed in 1962, making these pieces very collectable now. I collect Silver and especially Vesta Cases, I have a soft spot for them. It would be nice to see the whole Vesta Case.
Liz
