I think this is probably a French electroplate maker’s mark.

Hi. Any chance you know anything about
Silver Sauce Boats 51911A7 WALKER&HALL SHEFFIELD
WARRANTED HARD&SILVER SOLDERED 37
I am new to this and can’t find anything identical to this one.
Any idea of the value of it?
Thank you.
Silver plate. Minimal decorative value.
(And why did you post this on a two-month-old thread about a silver spirit measure? It seems to be totally unrelated.)
ETA: Just found a very similar sauce boat that sold on eBay a week ago. One bid, for a total of ÂŁ0.99. This is not a typo - yes, less than a quid.
I am new to this forum and still don’t understand it fully. Also I couldn’t post anything on a main page as a new member.
Thank you for your reply.
I was wandering how much it might be, because similar ones to this one had price range from ÂŁ1200 to few quid.
I am just researching it for my friend. He found it somewhere and now he wanted to sell it.
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. All the best.
If it were solid sterling silver, the value would, indeed, be hundreds, or over ÂŁ1000, depending upon the weight, age, maker, etc. The crucial difference is between sterling silver, which can be worth a lot, and silverplate, which has only decorative value (think car boot sale).
