Spoon - Silver or Plated

I came across this spoon in a charity shop. I collect silver but more of the collectibles.Royal Mint etc.

Im wondering if anyone with knowledge of assay stamps and hallmarks confirm that the lion does indeed indicate it is solid 925 and if someone could date it for me.

Many thanks in advance

Fantastic. Thank you Bartholomew. What a great find for £1.50. 63g of 925. Ill do some digging through your links and see if its worth keeping over the current scrap price.

Many thanks again

At current melt value the spoon is worth US$160.14. Typically a smelter will pay you 60% of that.

The pattern is fiddle & thread. Sometimes referred to as the Military Pattern because of its popularity with Army and Navy Mess in the late Victorian era.

20th century flatware is going nicely at auction. But by the time the auctioneer takes his 25% from you and 25% from the buyer you’re left with about 50 cents on the dollar.
