SPOONS

My wife has two old family silver spoons, about 10" long, fairly plain. There are four stamps on the back. The first three are in oblong cartouches and read, very simply, HA, EA and FA. The fourth is a simple shield with the letters EP over A inside. There are no other stamps, hallmarks, etc.

As family background, her grandmother came from St Helena in the South Atlantic. She moved to the UK in the very early 1900s. Her grandfather was Irish.

Any thoughts on the origin of these pieces would be appreciated.

This is one of the marks applied to their electroplate by Atkin Brothers of Sheffield. It probably dates to the first half of the 20th century. The initials are for Harry, Edward & Frank Atkin.

Thanks very much. I appreciate your time.
