can anyone help date this silver mark??? in the block it reads BMC. Ld
the marks are small gothic N… lion head only looking left tongue out, and brittania sat down…

I don’t know the maker, but the hallmark is London 1928 and the Britannia symbol and lion’s head erased indicate Britannia standard silver rather than the more usual sterling (958 parts per 1000 pure silver rather than 925/1000). Note that the picture at the top of this page shows a (much earlier) Britannia standard hallmark.
