Sugar bowl, name?

I would like to know the history origin of this item and if it is for sugar. It goes with a silver tea set? which is probably late 1800s.

Probably for sugar. I’ve seen similar ones before but can’t remember what purpose was proposed for them.

You are about right with your dating although I would extend the period: very late 19th to first half 20th century. Electroplate is impossible to date accurately and without a manufacturer’s name we can’t even consider when they might have been operating.

So does Best Sheffield Make, just give the location rather than identifying manufacturer. All 4 items I asked about came together from the Great grandmother, so could have been purchased together. They have been held in the family together since 1950’s anyway.

Cheers Annette

“Best Sheffield Make” is a boast rather than information!
