Tiffany American coin silver identification

To whom can I attribute the Hallmark “ P * S “ . I presume it’s an 1850’s New York silversmith but I couldn’t figure it out. Thank you for your help.

I hope someone can help you. I’m currently caring for my mother after major surgery. I won’t be active again for at least a week. Please bear with me.

Polhamus & Strong. “John Polhamus was a silversmith listed in NYC directories 1833-40 with the firm of Van Cott & Polhamus, also Polhamus & Strong, c 1845, where he made silver for Tiffany & Co.” [Dorothy Rainwater, Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers]

Thank you Phil. I was familiar with John Polhamus having produced for Tiffany but I was missing the other piece of the puzzle. Out of curiosity, is there a complete list of all the silversmiths that produced silver for Tiffany prior to the 1870’s when the firm started to make their own?

I have no idea about a potential Tiffany list, sorry.

Thank U, my friends!
