I bought two silver baby cups at the thrift store today.
Anyone recognize the makers? And is the 835 presumed 83.5% silver?

The STERLING piece is American, from Rogers, Lunt, and Bowlen, Greenfield, MA, early 20th Century.
ETA: And I believe the 835 piece (yes, 83.5% pure) is German, from Hermann Bauer, GmĂĽnd, late 19th Century.
ETA: And you have a considerable polishing job ahead of you! Remember, there’s nothing “original” about “original patina,” unless the maker intentionally oxidized the pieces. It’s just tarnish that needs to be banished.

The German piece is proving much easier to polish than the sterling. But this will get the job done.
