I bought two silver baby cups at the thrift store today.
Anyone recognize the makers? And is the 835 presumed 83.5% silver?
Not bad for $0.50

The STERLING piece is American, from Rogers, Lunt, and Bowlen, Greenfield, MA, early 20th Century.
ETA: And I believe the 835 piece (yes, 83.5% pure) is German, from Hermann Bauer, GmĂĽnd, late 19th Century.
ETA: And you have a considerable polishing job ahead of you! Remember, there’s nothing “original” about “original patina,” unless the maker intentionally oxidized the pieces. It’s just tarnish that needs to be banished. ![]()
Thanks so much.
The German piece is proving much easier to polish than the sterling. But this will get the job done.
