Hello, I hope you can help me. I have a pair of silver rat-tail tongs and try as I might, I cannot identify the marks. Is it silver or silver plate (it feels like silver)!

Almost certainly silver plate. Definitely not silver as there is no indication of fineness (e.g. a hallmark, 925, sterling, etc).

The maker is Elkington and Co and it is without doubt silver plate,but a good maker,
