Unmarked Silver Plate

I have a large Silver Plate over 50 years old which I purchased in Mozambique. I want to sell it but
I am unable to find any marks.
How can I confirm that it is silver?
Thank you

If you search the net you will find acid testing kits for silver. However these are not very reliable and can be very invasive as you need to cut or scratch fairly deeply into the metal to find a good sample. Note that electroplate is silver on the surface so acid testing the surface won’t show the difference between electroplate and solid silver.

The most reliable method is electronic testing; I have no experience of this so cannot say whether any of cheaper devices which come up in a search can be relied on.

As a final thought here is a link to a YouTube video which shows how a magnet can be useful in showing the difference between silver and non-silver.
