Hello.
Can anyone help me with these hallmarks please? I think the maker is Viners and they are made in Sheffield but are they plate or are they actual silver? I’m not sure how to tell.
Also, how do you tell what grade silver things like cutlery are when they’re not stamped 925 for example?
I buy and sell antiques but this is not my forte!

Sheffield, 1931, and yes, Viner’s Ltd. The lion passant (the incused mark second from the right, lion with his paw up waving at you) on English silver is an assay mark to verify that the piece has been tested to meet the English standard of .925 silver aka sterling. Will do. No, it’s a fork. I bought a job lot of stuff at auction and there was a box of cutlery. Most of it was EPNS but there were 5 of these forks and 2 sugar tongs which are hallmarked.
