Is there a special mark on Walker & Hall pieces sold in Australia around 1880?

I’m researching a jewelry box that I’m trying to trace back to Australia. Under the Walker & Hall maker’s mark is the number 112 1/2. Off to the right of this number is the letter A which is crooked and appears to have been added later. I’m wondering if the A could stand for Australia.

Any help would be appreciated.
