What is it please?????

Hi,

Have been given the metal tea set in the photo. It has no marks on it but the pot is quite heavy. Any idea what material it might be? Is it from the U.K.? Not sure if it has any collectible value. Any info would be appreciated.

No marks mean it is highly unlikely to be silver. It could be electroplated or pewter or some other silvery coloured metal but without markings or chemical testing there is no easy way to tell - especially at a distance. The lack of markings also make its origin difficult to determine. It could very well be British.

It probably has some value especially as it appears to have been properly made with insulating spacers on the teapot handle, but you probably won’t get more than a few pounds for it.

I have deleted your duplicate post under “Photographing Silver” so that we don’t get multiple responses.

Many thanks.
