What kind of spoon is this?

Hello, I am trying to find some information on this spoon.

When I search it the results bring up large ladles. The spoon is approximately 4”. Thanks in advance

I would say it is a sauce or cream ladle.

Hi, I can help here. This spoon is designed to collect a liquid and pour the liquid out of the bowl via the protruding lip. It can be used for medicine, gravy, or pouring that requires some form of precision.

Usage over time can change, so what it is used for today might be very different from its use say at the turn of the last century. What ever floats your boat. Traditional cream ladles are circular and shallow, while gravy ladles are again circular, but deeper. They may be flat bottomed or round bottomed. This spoon is most likely round bottomed and deep like a soup spoon.

Hope this helps, but it might just open up more questions for you…..sorry.
