Where to start

Hi, I have a pair of old spoons I believe are silver ut I don’t know where to start with the marks.
I attach a photo of one of the spoon marks - can anyone help?

This mark is a Registry mark and contains information about the registration of the design, so it only indicates an earliest possible date of manufacture. As I read it the mark shows that the item is metal and that the registration date was 31 May 1880. The number 3 on the left is the bundle number and shows the number of items included in the registration. Googling “English registry marks” brings up a number of sites which detail how to read the marks.

As your spoons are British they should have hallmarks if they are silver. No hallmarks indicates that they are highly unlikely to be silver. Do they have any other marks such as a maker’s mark?
