Zilpla 90 Box testing as Sterling?

I have this Dutch box marked Zilpla 90. Quick google search shows that it means its silver plated with 90 parts silver out of 100 parts base material.

However, my boss tested it via 18k gold acid and he said that it is probably 900 parts silver.

I am a novice when it comes to this sort of thing.

He/she/they probably tested the surface which is pure silver. A proper acid test would have to gouge below the surface. XRF (X-ray fluorescence) testing is non-invasive but potentially much more costly.

Hello, this brand Zilpla 90, it’s silver plated. The name 90 silver, means silver plated in some countries. Your boss it’s wrong in this time…
